Abstract

Land snail diversity had been carried out from August–October 2019 was divided into to two time field trip. First trip from 10/8-21/8/2019 and Second trip 26/9-7/10/2019 at Feaung, Kasi and Vangvieng districts Vientiane province Lao PDR.  There are 21 localities dividing from three main geographic areas as 9 localities in Feaung, 6 in Vangvieng and 5 in Kasi respectively. All those three areas have been intensively surveyed in the present study. All live specimens were photographed prior to preserve in 70% ethanol. Shell morphology was used for identification. One hundred and twenty-eight species that belong to 36 genera from 12 families were identified and updated. Those were divided into two group such as Prosobranch snails consist of fifty-eight species, 8 genera and 3 families of which 12 species unidentified, and 70 species, 28 genera, 9 families belong to Pulmonate snails this including unidentified 13 species.

There are four species, four genera and three families are important for local food and economy namely Cyclophoridae, Ariophantidae and Camaenidae, Cyclophorus, Rhiostoma, Amphidromus and Meguastenia. The ground dwellers Ariophantidae, Achatinidae, Cyclophoridae, Pupinidae, Streptaxidae and Trochomorphiidae are dominant families, which occurs in three localities. Clausilidae and Dyakiidae were found only in Vangvieng and Kasi districts, Camaenidae and Dyakiidae present in Feaung and Vangvieng districts, Family  Chronidae and Helicinidae restricted only Feaung district.
